Ingredients:

  • 2 tomatoes, chopped (or tomato paste)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 potatoes
  • ¼ tsp. sweet paprika
  • 2 slices of bacon
  • salt
  • water (for boiling)

Equipment:

  • pot
  • pan

Preparation:

Cube the potatoes and boil them for at least 10 minutes. Fry the onion and bacon until cooked. Add paprika, salt, and chopped tomatoes. Stir. Add potatoes and simmer for as long as it takes the potatoes to cook.

 

 

Campfire Potato Soup

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 carrots, diced
  • 1 jar bacon bits
  • 2 cans cream of celery soup
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 package shredded cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups water
  • salt and pepper

Equipment:

  • Dutch oven

Preparation:

Add all ingredients to Dutch oven. Mix together and cover with lid. Cook over fire on grate for around 30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Stir occasionally to keep the potatoes from sticking. Serve in a bowl and add shredded cheese on top for added taste.

Camp Stew Recipe

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound stew beef (or steak)
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 1 bag baby carrots
  • 1 white onion
  • 4 celery stalks
  • Water
  • 2 packets brown gravy mix
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • salt and pepper

Equipment:

  • pot

Preparation:

Cut up the beef into bite size pieces. Lightly brown the meat in the stew pot until it’s medium rare. Chop the potatoes, carrots, onion, and celery and add to pot. Cover with water to about a half inch over the ingredients. Add packets of brown gravy mix and 3 bouillon cubes. Stir well. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 30 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Fill with water until it’s about a half inch over the ingredients. Add packets of brown gravy mix and three bouillon cubes. Stir it well. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
