I stopped believing in Santa Claus when my mother took me to see him in a department store, and he asked for my autograph. - Shirley Temple |

Campfire DessertsFried Apple PieIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: Roll out two biscuits. Place apple pie filling in the center of one biscuit and cover with the second. Seal the edges with a fork, making sure you have a tight seal all the way around. This prevents the filling from leaking. Heat oil in a pan on camping stove - a fire will not give you an even heat. Once the oil is hot, slowly add a pie. Cook one at a time to make it easier and to keep the oil hot. Once the pie is brown on first side, flip and brown on the other side. Remove to a paper towel and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. The filling will be hot, so be careful!
Apple Pie on a StickIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: Push skewer or dowel through the apple top until the apple is secure on the stick. Place the apple 2-3 inches above hot coals and turn the apple while roasting it. As the apple cooks, the skin turns brown and juices drip out. When the skin is loose, remove the apple from the coals, leaving it on the stick. Carefully peel the skin off, it will be hot. Combine the sugar and cinnamon. Roll the apple in the sweet mixture, then return it to roast over the coals, letting the mixture heat to form a glaze around the apple. Remove from coals and let cool before eating.
Banana BoatsIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: With the stem of the banana facing up, cut a slit in each banana leaving about ½ inch on each end uncut. Place a layer of chocolate in the slit and then a layer of marshmallows on top of that. Wrap in foil and heat on a grill over a hot bed of coals until the marshmallows and chocolate are melted. Unwrap and enjoy! Tip: If you are really adventurous, top them off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and nuts and have yourself a “to die for” banana split!
Dirt DessertIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: Crush Oreos and mix with Cool Whip and Gummy Critters. Serve chilled.
Rocky Mountain CakeIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: Slice the angel food cake in half horizontally. Mix pudding into Cool Whip. Spread half over the bottom half of the cake. Sprinkle with half of the toffee chips. Replace the top half of the cake and spread with remaining Cool Whip and toffee chips. Delicious! Campfire S’mores With A KickIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: Place marshmallows and Caramilk squares between two graham crackers, wrap in foil and heat over campfire (about a minute). Unwrap and enjoy. Careful, they will be hot. Tip: The Caramilk squares do not melt. They stay intact until you bite into them, then there is an explosion of caramel in your mouth. They are so good – a great twist to the traditional recipe.
More S’moresIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: If using chocolate bars, fold foil into a cup and melt them in the cup. Toast marshmallows (or not). Take a small Ziploc bag and crush the graham crackers into small pieces. Dip the marshmallows in the melted chocolate or chocolate syrup, and then roll in graham crumbs.
Fudge in a BagIngredients:
Equipment:
Preparation: Add all the ingredients into a large Ziploc bag and seal. Pass the bag around to fellow campers and let everyone help mix it up by squeezing it for 30 minutes. The fudge can be serves out of the bag or spread on a pan and cut. |
