Free Camping Recipes - Pizza and Breads

Three Minute Hot Pocket Pizza

Ingredients:

Camping Recipes - Pizza
  • 1 pkg. pita bread
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 pkg. sliced pepperoni
  • any other desired toppings

Equipment:

  • heavy duty aluminum foil
  • spoon

Preparation:

Cut the pita in half and spoon pizza sauce into the pocket, spreading evenly. Add mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and other toppings. Wrap in heavy duty foil and place in coals. Cook for 1.5 minutes on each side – just long enough to warm it and melt the cheese (for really hot coals this is plenty of time).

Tip:

Serve with salad for a quick meal, or makes a great campfire snack!

 

 

Pita Bread Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg. pita bread
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
  • 1 (8 ounce) pkg. grated mozzarella cheese
  • any other desired toppings

Equipment:

  • grill

Preparation:

Place pita bread on hot grill and toast to desired doneness. Turn over and add pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and any other toppings you desire. Grill until cheese is melted.

 

Campfire Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 6 oranges
  • 2 (7 ounce) pkgs. muffin mix, you choose flavor

Equipment:

  • knife
  • spoon
  • heavy duty aluminum foil

Preparation:

Cut oranges in half. Scoop out the inside to eat later. Reserves the hollowed peel shells.

Prepare the muffin mix according to package directions. Fill the orange peel cups half full with the muffin mix. Wrap each one loosely with foil. Place in hot coals, making sure not to spill the batter. Cook 5-10 minutes, or until the muffins are done.

 

 

Dutch Oven Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound flour
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 4 cup water
  • 3 sticks butter

Equipment:

  • Dutch oven
  • mixing bowl

Preparation:

Add all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and let sit for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Pat the batter into personal size biscuits. Put in Dutch oven and cover (top and bottom) with red hot coals. Cook for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Recipe makes 2 Dutch oven full.
