Camping Cooking

Cooking on the open campfire can be so much fun. Find recipes of all kinds, from the simple to the gourmet, from breakfast to dessert and everything in between.

One handy way to cook food on the campfire is by making a tin foil packet. We have specific foil camping recipes, but you can modify many different recipes to work on the campfire using heavy duty foil. And that way, there's no pan to wash!

Check out our hints about how to build a campfire. And get camping tips.

How to Fold a Tin Foil Packet to Use with Camping Recipes

1.  For quick and easy campfire cooking, center your ingredients on a sheet (12x18 inches) of heavy duty aluminum foil.
2.  Bring up both sides and make a double fold at the top and on both ends, leaving room for heat circulation inside.
3.  Place in between coals on the campfire.
4.  After cooking, open the end of the foil packet first to allow the steam to escape. Careful, it will be hot! Then open the top of the foil packet. Eat directly out of the foil or put on a plate.
