Cold Weather Cider

Free Camping Recipes - Beverages

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 or 2 large apples
  • large handful of raisins
  • 1 or 2 cans each pears and peaches
  • cinnamon (optional)

Equipment:

  • large pot

Preparation:

Add cider to a large pot and add liquid from canned fruit. Chop fruit into bite size pieces and add to cider along with the raisins. Heat just below boiling over a gentle fire. Simmer until the fruit is soft.

Tip: Makes a good winter drink because it adds calories and helps you stay hydrated.

Old Fashioned Coffee

Find camping recipes for beverages.

Ingredients:

  • coffee beans, ground
  • water
  • sugar, cream (optional)

Equipment:

  • pot
  • cheesecloth
  • dental floss

Preparation:

Place enough coffee, for the pot you’re using, into a square of cheesecloth. Make sure the cheesecloth is large enough to tie up with dental floss. Place this into a pot with cold water. Place the pot on the campfire or stove. When steam rises from the coffee pot, the coffee is hot and ready. Tastes just like percolated coffee. Add sugar and cream, if desired.
